"Apple Picking"

I don't just throw the "quotes" around, but we didn't get to do any picking at Carter Mountain. We trudged around for a while, but the trees were bare. We ended up buying pre-picked apples, which are more expensive. It was a fun time with Mom and Dad Z and the Adlers.

It's finally cold and we are heading to Duck, NC this weekend! Sadly, the dogs can't go with us. Bailey is really fun at the beach and Hazel hasn't experienced it yet, but they aren't allowed at the house we are getting to use for free, so, they will get there another time. The girls get to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa Colonel.

Pumpkin Carving

A couple weekends ago, we went out to River Rock Farm to carve pumpkins. The girls had stayed there the night before while we were at Hampden-Sydney. They got lots of walks down to the river and play time with at least 6 other dogs. It's a beautiful place for people and a great bed and breakfast for dogs.

Nia, who was the flower girl in our wedding, went with us to carve pumpkins. She was a little 2nd grader when KJD and I moved in next to her. She has grown up so much!

On a side note, if you want to have a Jack-o-lantern ON Halloween, don't carve it on October 13th when it's 90 degrees out! Within the first week, he had mold growing out of his nose and mouth-not pretty.

Chris Greene Lake

Last Saturday we took the girls swimming. Bailey has always enjoyed sticking her nose out of the car window, but Hazel fully embraces the rush:

This is how it went - Bailey would anxiously await the throwing of the stick,
(or very large branch!)
Hazel would wait at the edge of the water,
pounce on Bailey, and steal the stick she just swam out to get.

Bath time after swimming. Clean and tired girls:

Hmmmm...maybe I'll chew on this...

Some nature shots as I continue to play around with the new camera:

We head to the Colonel's alma mater for his 10 year reunion tomorrow
and then pumpkin carving at River Rock farm!
