Fall

Fall is here and it's finally starting to feel like it. 90 degrees doesn't make you feel like carving a pumpkin! Last weekend was nice, but a little warm.
On Saturday, TJ and I ran in the Clark Elementary School Super Achiever 5k. The Colonel was supposed to run with me, but bruised knee bones (from a soccer game) relegated him to recording times at the finish line. Results aren't posted yet, but I don't have anything to brag about. I was pleased to finish in the same time as the 5k in May, given that Saturday's race was in Belmont with a few hills, and I haven't been running as much with school in full swing.
Really I was just helping TJ train for Machu Picchu. She left Thursday and I'm not sure exactly when she was starting the hike, but she's going to be doing some serious trekking!

I purchased a new/old digital slr camera that I am excited about. I have had very little time to sit down and learn about it, but I have been snapping some pictures here and there.

I have a lot to learn with the new camera. Right now there are just so many different buttons and functions...I have no clue what I am doing. We'll see how it goes though.
The Colonel's parents are in town and I think we are going to head to the downtown mall this evening to enjoy the weather. With UVA playing at 7, we are hoping it won't be too crowded. Life here is boring, but pleasant!

Hazel Fix

It's been a while since you have seen puppy pictures, so here is a fix.

Hazel got to play with her brother Beau on Labor Day. He is a big boy!

They stalked each other:
And pounced:

We took the dogs down to the river over labor Day weekend as well. Bailey LOVES the water and acts like a 1 year old when there, Hazel is still getting used to it. The area we were in was pretty shallow so she was comfortable. Bailey went after the ball and Hazel just went after Bailey.

Blogger finally has a way to put videos up, so I am trying it out with one from the river.

and she keeps growing...

Hot Air Balloons

Yesterday morning, when I got up with Hazel, there were 3 hot air balloons flying over our neighborhood. I see them a lot of mornings when I am driving to work, and 2 years ago 1 landed on our street-a lady got off, but we never figured out exactly what was going on.

It was 7:30 am, a beautiful clear day, and I was just enjoying watching them. Then a lady yelled down from a balloon, "Good morning! It's a beauuuuuutiful morning!" I just kind of waved because I didn't think I should be yelling at that time of day!

Hazel was entranced by the sound the hot air makes.
She just wanted to sit and watch.
After we came inside, they flew over the back of the house. When I went out on the deck, one of the balloons was directly overhead. They are pretty cool things,
although I'm not sure I would feel very safe in one.
A nice way to start the day though.
