Soccer Part 2

Tonight was the last night of Eliza's Soccer Week.  It was a little stressful to have dinner done by 5:35 each night, but it's summer, so we were home earlier and made do...no fancy meals this week.
The last three days were MUCH cooler than the first night so I think that made a big difference.  Eliza also got used to the structure and tonight, she was proud to show me what she had learned.

Owen was WAY excited to be there again tonight.

He went right after a ball and kicked it back and forth with me.

Owen played goalie for me for a little bit and he's pretty good!

Eliza was excited to bring a ball home.

The first night we were a little worried that Eliza was going to hate the week.  She warmed up as the week went on and we feel like we can try soccer again sometime (and Owen seems ready for his turn!)

Soccer

 Owen, looking cute before soccer.

This week Eliza has 4 soccer sessions.  There is a "coach", who gives the parents drills to do with the child.  It's very self-directed and teaches foundational skills.
We thought a storm might cancel soccer, but the skies cleared and we headed out.

Owen helped Eliza get her equipment.

Warm ups

Toe touches are not that easy to teach.

Learning to trap the ball.

It's hard not to use those hands.

"Let me out!  I want to play soccer!"

It was really hot and humid, and at this point Eliza needed a pep talk to keep going.

Playing with sticks might be more fun.
We'll give it another try tomorrow.

Ballet!

This summer Eliza is trying out a few activities through Charlottesville Parks and Rec.  She will have a week of soccer later in July.  Last week she started Ballet classes, which she will have once a week all summer.  She is taking Ballet with her BFF Jillian, which is so fun.  They didn't get to see each other much this last year since they were in different pre-schools, so they are way excited to have a class together.  (and they are doing a great job of listening to the teacher and following directions while being giddy next to each other)
I got a new camera a few days before the class started, so I really had no idea what I was doing yet.  Most of the pictures are blurry, but I'll get the hang of it before the end of the summer.

Little Brother, along for the ride

Doing her own thing...

I'm not sure what she was doing here, but I'm impressed with her form!

This is so fun!
